So, to steer things in a very different direction. Does anyone know of or have ideas for a mechanic to replace hit points that really does so?
What I mean is something that does not require as much paperwork as recording hit point loss or stun, but which gives a reasonable simulation result that can hold up to heavy usage.
I'm not looking for systems designed for LARP, Diceless or online gaming, just basic tabletop roleplaying. I have a study with probably 30 different game mechanics sitting in it, and not one of them has a good alternative for Hit Points. I'm really tired of bookkeeping bogging down play.
