PRIME MEDIA TO RELEASE DOMINION: MODERN FEUDAL ROLEPLAYING IN 2005

Hey. I'm a long time ljer who happens to write RPG material. This is a promo, but I don't want to be a bother, so I'll put it behind a cut . . .

PRIME MEDIA TO RELEASE DOMINION: MODERN FEUDAL ROLEPLAYING IN 2005

OGL-inspired game marks the debut of Wildside Press, LLC's roleplaying game imprint.

March 30, 2004 (HOLICONG, PA) --Wildside Press LLC is pleased to announce that Dominion: Modern Feudal Roleplaying will be a part of its new Prime Media roleplaying game imprint. Scheduled for release in early 2005, Dominion is the creator-owned debut of critically acclaimed freelancer Malcolm Sheppard.

Dominion presents a 21st Century where feudal lords blessed with a supernatural divine right clutch the reigns of power. Passionate, scheming aristocrats rule the world's city-states, dueling amongst themselves and fighting against a rising tide of rebellion. The game will utilize a unique implementation of the Open Game Content used by numerous bestselling roleplaying games, with a special emphasis on dramatic, story-oriented play. Dominion will be a standalone book that includes all the rules needed to create and improve characters.

"I'm overjoyed that Dominion’s found a home with Prime Media," said Sheppard. "After over six years of development, I wasn't ready to share the game with just anybody. Wildside's proven track record as a fiction publisher convinced me that they would provide the solid, professional partnership I was looking for."

Nick Mamatas, Prime Media editor and Bram Stoker Award-nominated novelist, noted, "We have a new business model. Rather than development by committee, which leads to confused settings and incomprehensible rules, we're writer-centered. Prime Media is combining its publishing experience with creator-owned and controlled properties."

Founded in 2001 in Sean Wallace, Prime Books has set the standard for publishing cutting edge speculative fiction In addition to gathering great reviews for titles including Veniss Underground by Jeff VanderMeer, and K. J. Bishop's Crawford Award-winning The Etched City, Prime Books itself was nominated for a World Fantasy Award for 2003.

In 2004, Prime was acquired by Wildside Press LLC, one of the fastest-growing independent publishers in the country. Called "the major success story" of small press publishing by The Washington Post, Wildside has over 2500 titles in print.
