Character-Player Dissonance

I've run into a minor problem with a character I am currently playing. Unfortunately, this problems isn't what one could call isolated in any sense of the word. It has plagued me as a ST/GM, a player, and even as an innocent bystander...

How do you roleplay aspects of a character that are so far beyond your capacity, or sometimes even mortal ken, as to be almost unimaginable?

My current issue is with an Exalted character I am running. Now I would not necessarily label myself a complete lack wit (well, ok... not all the time anyway), but when it comes to intelligence he is several tiers above me. Based on the guidelines provided in the core rules we are talking about an IQ of 180+. Having graduated high school with (and been regularly humbled by) a gentleman who was approaching this level of intelligence, I know for certain that individuals at that level of intellect function on a plane far beyond my own. I don't think it is possible for me to do justice to this character. Has anyone ever encountered/overcome this problem?

Furthermore, I have run into similar issues dealing with things like charisma, wits, etc. So I would suppose I am seeking ideas on how one is to overcome these problems in general.
The obvious one is to avoid playing characters that are beyond your capacity in these fields, but I find this to be a rather limiting and lackluster solution to the problem (yes, I want to have my cake and eat it too). I have bypassed this problem in certain circumstances by giving NPC's meta-knowledge to simulate greater intelligence, but I am at a loss when it comes to being charismatic, witty, etc.. Anyway, comments and suggestions are most welcome.
