12:46p - RPG Thought, Opinion Sought
The last couple of days, I've spent some time working on "Shadow of the Wolf", the Desolation scenario for CanGames, 2009, and I have come to a scary conclusion: I am starting to have trouble remembering game rules for various systems. :(

Now, granted that I haven't run the Desolation rpg, other than a few playtests and all since GenCon, 2008, but you would think that the game system rules are simple enough, and given how long I ran its sister game, Hollow Earth Expedition, I should be able to remember these rules.

Part of the problem is that I've been running multiple game systems for the last few years. I think I've gotten to the point where my brain is overloaded with game system mechanics and rules, to the point where I can't keep some of the game system rules straight. Add to that the fact that I'm going to turn 54 years old this year, and well...age may well be creeping up on me. :(

This has made me question something. For those who remember this post about long-term campaigns versus desire to play multiple games, I have come to the conclusion that not only can I not run different games on alternate weeks, but that I need to cut down the number of games to around three, maybe with a fourth rpg every blue moon or so. I also only want to run one game with a set of mechanics that is moderately complex. This is not a decision I have come to lightly, but it is one that is likely to piss off my players in the two gaming groups.

6:59p - RPG Poll
I've just posted an RPG poll on my personal blog here on LJ, and would appreciate it if folks would kind enough to vote, if possible. Thanks. :)
