One-off advice

GM for a game I play in got his appendix blowed up and so I was thinking of running a one-off or mini-series type of Star Wars game.

EDIT: The reason I'm thinking of tinkering with the vitality/wound system is on the chance that it may turn into a mini-series or potentially a longer campaign arc. I don't want to get into it with a mechanic I have doubts about, then turn around and have to change things later if I actually get the opportunity... which, naturally, is why I'm looking for advice before this even gets off the ground.
