Sometimes, I really like my group.

The scene:
The tail end of a d20 Modern combat that was pushing two hours in duration thanks to some really, really slow players who were new to d20 system games. The more experienced players were getting tired of the pacing. A song breaks out. Names hidden to protect the innocent.

Experienced Player 1: "This is the fight that never ends... yes it goes on and on my friends..."
Experienced Player 2: "Some people, rolled initiative not knowing what it was!"
Experienced Player 3: "And they'll continue rolling hits forever JUST because..."
All Three: "... this is the fight that never ends..."
Gamemaster: "Oh, no..."

I found a box of old RPG stuff yesterday, including some home brew campaign- and world-development.

I also found a near mint copy of the old D&D Expert rule set, the blue soft back circa 1983.

My my, how the rules have changed since then.
