Allure of celebrity RP?

Prompted by seeing lots of ads for celebrity RPGs in the RPG ad communities....

Can someone explain to me what the allure of roleplaying as a celebrity is? Do people play in these games for the same reasons that some people play fantasy football (or other sports), or is it more like writing fan fiction of a sort?

I admit it; I'm utterly clueless as to why someone would RP as a real-live celebrity. Of course, I've never really understood the allure of playing the canon characters of a particular game world, either, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Mm... nostalgia.

Some time back in 1995 or 96, I believe, I purchased the Red Steel: Savage Baronies boxed set. With this boxed set came a CD of what I can best describe as a mix of ambient music and sound effects. Though not of the greatest quality, it was still good for mood-setting. I liked the fact that, in addition to mood music, players could hear waves hitting the boat or wind in the trees.

I still have the CD.

I'm wondering, however, if any of you might have suggestions as to where I might be able to find similar CDs or tracks. Ambient music is everywhere, but finding music with sound effects other than calming beach sounds isn't as simple. Thank you for your help.
