Hi there! I just joined a while ago, and this is my first post. Quick introduction: I've been RPing for about 2 1/2 years, but only regularly for about 1 1/2 years. My group used a "rotating" DM format since no one particularly minded DMing, but no one wanted to do it permanently. So, I had a chance to get my feet wet, and I liked it. Anyway, I agreed to take on the role of DM for our group, and I'm still kind of learning as I go.

Here's my problem. Two of the people in my group have sort of an irl personality clash, and while they are aquaintances, they don't get along that well, especially while RPing. Right now, the characters are sort of split between a group of 2 and a group of 5 and aren't acting together. This is a problem because while I roleplay out a "scene" with one side, the others have to wait, and everyone is becomming restless.

We've spoken a little bit as a group about cohesion. Everyone agrees that a campaign we had two years ago was the best because all the chars just clicked. But now, some of them get on eachother's nerves. But, if the characters clash, they clash. I don't really want people to have to "metagame" their character's personalities for them to get along. [EDIT: section deleted so as not to offend any of my players] Basically, it seems that the major problem is that a few people want to be the "heros" and the ones to call the shots, and consequently no-one can agree on anything.

Anyway, enough rambling. I'm a new DM, any suggestions? I really miss that "family feel" our old campaign had.

I started on this with two good friends more than a year ago... things happened along the way. After all was said and done this was one of the few things left of that friendship, and it was unfinished. well, I found it recently and decided that it should finally be finished and the world subjected to it. if they find out about thisI hope they are amused as we were when we worked on putting it together...
