Convention tips?

I'll be running a number of one-shot games at a local gaming convention (UBCon at SUNY Buffalo, for the curious) and would like to know about ways to keep the players in those games (some of whom I'll never have seen before, and likely will never see again) amused and interested in the game (we'll have only three hours to play, so I'll need to get them interested right off the bat, I think...:).

They'll be using pre-generated characters, and the games will be two WoD and one Unisystem, if that helps...

Calling RPG Artists

I know some of the people who read this journal are artists.

Well, I'm involved with a project called the No Press RPG Anthology, which is a collection of several small indie RPGs in one book.

If I understand what Luke Crane, the guy organizing the project, is saying, artists will be getting $20 a piece for contributing. I know my contribution, Pretender, has three pieces of illustration I'd like to see.

If you're interested, check out the art direction thread regarding the project on the Forge, as well as the original threads.

I know that in particular I'm willing to pony up the money for the pieces I described for my game in the art direction thread. Regardless, if you're interested, you should probably post to that thread and let people know your skills are available.
