1:09p - A blast from the past...
with a rename in the right sense of humor:

Mongoose Publishing of Swindon, Wilts., UK announced today agreement with the creators of the fondly remembered tabletop roleplaying game Paranoia, to develop and publish a new edition of the game, Paranoia XP. The new version will be written and produced by legendary game designers Allen Varney and Aaron Allston, with participation by Paranoia's original co-designer Greg Costikyan.

The developers will conduct their discussions about the game on a blog hosted at www.costik.com/paranoia, and those interested in the game are invited to comment and participate in the process.

2:07p - Speaking of Earthdawn...
Ever since Earthdawn came out, I wanted to play it. But back in the day, I was too broke to buy the books, and nobody else was all that into it. SO, over the last two years, in an amazing display of obsessive-compulsive ebay raids, I have acquired almost every Earthdawn publication ever released. And, I have managed to sucker my bimonthly gaming group into an alternate tuesday Earthdawn experiment. We are going to run a few one shots, and if it clicks, we're going to make a new batch of beginning characters and start a campaign.

I will be running second edition Earthdawn, but most of the materials I have are first edition. With that in mind, does anyone have any advice for me? Is there anything I should know about Earthdawn that would derail my group from enjoying it? Something I could make house rules to avoid?

My ideas: Run a mostly human and orc party. As characters die, allow them to make new characters of the more oscure races. Run the module Terror From the Skies as the intro adventure, but start the campaign in a corrupted kaer, about to open it's doors to some Throalish envoys who recently discovered the kaer was still populated.

Any advice anyone?

7:07p - Got a question here...
Out of curiosity, have you ever tried to fit yourself into a gaming world? What I mean is, if you were in that world, what would you be?
I've figured, from what I can tell, I'd be, in the World of Darkness at least, a Child of Gaia (or maybe Fianna, with my Irish & British heritage) Ragabash.
Anybody else?

Don't you just love it when a player gives you a background, and a while later you include a subplot in your game directly based on that PC's background, to give that player some spotlight time and develop their character a bit more and all that cool stuff, and the player doesn't remember the freakin background information your plot is based on?

Player: "Hey wait, how did my parents die?"
Me: ".... They died in a carriage accident when you were 12."
Player: "Hmm... that doesn't sound like what I'd say."
Me: "What?"
Player: "Well, I don't remember, but I think I would have had something else happen to them."
Me: "Well I do remember, and it's what you said."
Player: "Oh, well it still doesn't sound right."

*sigh*

This is of course from the only player who didn't give me a written background.

But anyway...
