Memoirs of an Adventurer: Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil Part I

Every Tuesday, I participate in a gaming group. Every other Tuesday, I run Ghostbusters. On alternating Tuesdays, one of my players is running 3.0 D&D and we're going through the Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil for shits and grins. In the third week of this game, only three of the players were available; Myself (Maximilian Sol - Human Cleric of Kord), Jim (Escelvin - Elven Paladin). and Cori (Faeria - Human Wizard). Cori had to leave early that night as well, so while we were going to go fight the dragon in the moat house, we decided to just do some city based encounters that night and wait for the rest of the group to fight the dragon.

Well, To catch the rest of the group up on what had happened, I was asked to write up a story report. This is what spawned from that request. It's steeped in irony and sarcasm, because that's the kind of guy I am. I realize not everyone who reads it will really get all of the inside jokes that stream through it, but I think a lot of it is common enough in any D&D game that it can be enjoyed by anyone. We're fully aware that this module is a meat grinder, and we are basically approaching the game as something fun to throw characters at. I believe it shows in the following. I think I will be continuing this form of first person write-up as we progress, because I got a crap-ton of experience for it. *grin*

Now, without further ado, I present:

Well, greetings everyone. I'm new here, so I think I'll just share my most recent gaming experience.

My brother ran his 3rd edition D&D game today, and I (what the hell is wrong with me?) agreed to play. I haven't been that bored since I finished statistics. The only players my brother could find were his best-friend, and his best-friend's wife (this should tell you something). Oh why, oh why did I agree to this?

Why was this game so bad? Well, let's look at the party...

Our party:

Hairy, large, slightly dim, human with a silly name
Class: Cleric
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Personality: None, might have been meant to be tough nordic type, but he really didn't do enough for it to be noticeable.
Job: Healer of many wounds, turner of skeletons, basher of doors, maker of critical fumbles
Special possessions: Large hammer more often used for breaking doors than hitting enemies
Other Notes: Missed while trying to hit an enemy that was laying on the ground

Dwarf, just a dwarf really, also has a silly name
Class: Not sure, but I would hazard warrior, or maybe just Dwarf
Race: Dwarf
Gender: Male (we think)
Personality: Dwarf
Job: Dwarf
Special possessions: Not sure really, dwarfy personality?
Other Notes: Is a Dwarf, hates elves, likes to drink and dig (yes, that's how much the DM rubbed it in)

A Horse
Class: Horse
Gender: Probably doesn't have one anymore
Personality: Horse
Job: Horse
Special possessions: Saddle
Other Notes:Probably one of the most interesting NPCs
