1:57p - Cooperative World Building 101 (Freakin Long!)
This is my first post in the Gamer Geekery - No Players group. This one's only readable by those of you who are interested in Gamer Geek stuff, but aren't players in my games.

In the next month or so, I'll be running my first fantasy game in like 10 years. It's an idea I've had battering around in my head for a couple of years now and I'm finally getting down to it. It'll be a Savage Worlds game, set in the same world as my buddy Luke's game Ruins, roughly 1600 years after the events in his game.

So for the first time in a decade or so, I'm doing the time honored GM job of fantasy world building. Which is a pretty fun change of pace from plotting century spanning vampire plots or demonic horrors. So I figured it would be cool to enlist the lot of you guys in helping to create the setting.

Hopefully this will help some of you brainstorming shit for your own game, and of course help me make something my players will think is awesome. And by awesome, I mean totally sweet.

6:30p - Underworld
So aside from having an a-fucking-mazing soundtrack (with maynard james keenan of TOOL, josh freese of A Perfect Circle and Danny Lohner of Renholder) im officially obsessed with this new movie. Even more so, i'm more interested in the lawsuit white-wolf has taken up against them for likeness rights. The only reason theyre letting the movie go ahead is because they took the concepts White-wolf created and applied them rather artfully to the same degree that they exist in the minds of gamers. What i'm rather shocked at is that the screenwriters didn't ask for permission to use the obviously similar, no not similar, EXACT concepts, that white-wolf has published for the last 15 years. Much more accurately depicted than Kindred the Embraced, Underworld has more of a realistic feel to it than the series ever had. The series was a bit less complex and more so contained boring characters. But i find this interesting:

(Underworld spoilers beyond this point.)

The story Love of Monsters (written by Nancy A. Collins for white-wolf) is about a vampire girl who falls in love with a werewolf boy. Her sire is in torpor (in a deep sleep from which he cannot be awakened without blood) and when he is awakened and finds out about her relationship with the werewolf he is furious. Apparently a vampire boy had gotten a werewolf girl pregnant, the child was named an Abomination and killed immediately. Current day vampire girl tries to turn werewolf boy into a vampire, a process none have ever survived BUT HE DOES and he is now an Abomination and kills her sire.
