My comment to burntbythesun02 made me think about how I really abhor it when GMs change the rules in mid-game. Ad hocking when nobody is certain on a rule is fine; Changing the rules pre-game is even fine - I mean, I do it. But I absolutely detest it when GMs just change the rules after you've made and played your character in accordance to what you thought the rules were. I've even had a GM do it to me in mid combat, taking away my character's ability to escape from the enemies because it was "too powerful." The thing is, I don't even disagree that it could be considered too powerful; Why didn't you think about that when you looked over the character and allowed me to play it?? Sorry, I guess I'm just venting. But seriously. It's unfair.
