Let me get to the point.
I am currently in the midst of creating a female character, for a DRoP site. (Yes, I know, I know...) I need to know whether or not she is too Mary-Sue, or over-used, or ANYTHING! I don't want to be one of "those" people, especially since I haven't roleplayed in months, and am hoping to make a rather awesome comeback ;)
edit: Okay, I think you guys are assuming I'm not going to write a history. Of COURSE I am. I just haven't yet. I was still working on personality and appearance. Also, those two short paragraphs weren't the only parts of my description. I'll give you the full thing, I s'pose:
Flitt: [male] Zenith; Eclipse Dragon
Dragon: [female] Aerith; unknown Dragon
Aislinn has a slender figure; in fact, it is so slender, that she looks as if she hasn’t eaten in days. She lacks the curves most women in their 20s possess, and this results in her being somewhat like a pole. If you ignored her head entirely, you might even think she was a teenage boy. Her arms and fingers are a bit too long, though she hides it well by standing up straight, without slouching at all. Aislinn is quite tall, for a woman, having a height of 5’8. Basically, she holds the appearance of a skeleton gone bad. Her arms, torso, and legs are a dark tan, due to being out in the sun nearly every day. Aislinn’s arms have some dry patches (they, too, came about from her long days in the sun), but nothing too noticeable.
Her face and hair, however, are about as feminine as you can get, which clashes rather oddly with her masculine bodice. She has a small button nose, and a petite chin. Her eyebrows curve nicely, although there is probably a stray hair or two out of place. The skin on her face is also tanned, but is even, without any dry spots or blemishes. Her lips, cheeks, forehead, and ears are completely average. Nothing you wouldn’t see on almost any other young woman. One feature that stands out on her face, though, is her stunning eyes. They are a little larger than usual, making her appear naïve and innocent (not that she is). The color is a unique blue hue that can only be described as indigo. Nevertheless, no one who truly got a good look at them would be able to pinpoint a specific color.
Now, her hair is a real sight to see. It was the color of raw umber, with faint shades of red thrown in. It fell down to a little past her shoulders. Not to mention, her hair was naturally wavy, but not curly. It is really rather glorious... whenever someone actually gets the chance to see it. Most of the time, Aislinn simply wears it back in a ponytail, successfully hiding it away. Plus, she rarely ever takes the time to truly brush it out, resulting in tainting its natural wave. Last, her clothing. She wears simple clothes, despite her title as a dragon rider. Usually, she wears plain colors, such as black, tan, or brown. The one thing she can say is that her clothes are always tidy and clean.
If you wanted the bare minimum of Aislinn’s personality, told to you in simple verbs, it would be the following; calm, tactful, decisive, loyal, social, but also awkward and self-conscious. But no personality is that simple. In fact, Aislinn’s personality goes much deeper than just what you see on the surface. The main thing about her, is she tries to live up to her title as dragon rider by being a strong leader who always knows the right thing to say, and the right thing to do. Most of the time, she is able to play this off well, without anyone noticing what’s really going on.
The truth of the matter is, all she is doing is putting up a very effective front. Her real nature is self-conscious. When she makes a decision, she always stands behind it; still, she always wonders if it was the right thing to do. Plus, she’s always worrying on whether or not others see her as she wants them to, and whether or not they like her. This fault does not make her a weak person. She has many redeeming qualities about her.
One redeeming quality she has is her calm. It would be very rare for her to truly be upset or angry about anything. She still has feelings, but she has a rather strong hold on them. She is able to peacefully sort out any disagreement, unless violence is thrust upon her. Another quality is her loyalty. Even though she has trust issues, once you gain her trust, she will stand by you through thick and thin. She will stand up for you, and help you while you’re down.
Aislinn loves to talk to others in a comfortable, light manner. She will talk to just about anyone who crosses her path, and loves meeting new people the best. This doesn’t make her stray from her dragon rider persona; when she is talking to those who look up to her, she puts on her royal air, if only to help reassure them. The only time she has problems talking is when she is placed into a love situation; fortunately, this doesn’t happen often.
What do you think?
